Navigator Web™ eliminates costs associated with paper charts, including paper and
sticker labels. It will ensure proper documentation thereby optimizing your
reimbursement and protecting you long term medico-legally. It will significantly
decrease your number of Left Without Treatments while increasing patient
throughput times. It will prevent disposition from being completed prior to proper
financial-payer information being obtained. Additionally, charts can no longer be
lost as they are saved and retrieved electronically.
Indirect returns include the physical space saved through electronic storage, staff
time saved copying, filing and retrieving charts and managerial time spent
manually quantifying data. Another intangible return is the community´s perception of your ED being cutting edge and providing the best patient care.
Shared Data and Free Flow of Information
Communication of information is critical in healthcare. Unclear information can
lead to medical errors and delays in patient care. Navigator Web allows real-time
sharing of patient information with all authorized users, removing the bottlenecks
of searching for a patient chart. Not only does it improve the flow of information,
it also improves the quality and accessibility of the information. The information
provided is clear and concise through consistent template design. Thus, the
emergency department staff is always aware of the current status of patient care.
Increased Patient Satisfaction
The flexibility of Navigator Web allows it to be taken to the bedside. Patient satisfaction is
directly correlated to how much time patients perceive physicians and nurses spend
addressing their complaints. Bedside documentation and order entry maximize the time
clinicians can spend with a patient.
Consistent, High Level of Documentation
Navigator Web provides a documentation outline for clinicians to follow. Any fields can be
made mandatory. Prompts are set up throughout the application to help the user consider
possibilities and remind them of documentation guidelines. Any areas not addressed, will
not show up on the viewed chart. The final chart is clear and in narrative form, that is easy
for consultants and other staff to read and understand.
Reduction in Medical Errors
Many medical errors are attributable to misunderstood information. If a physician has poor
handwriting, a nurse or unit clerk may interpret it wrong and initiate the wrong orders.
Navigator Web displays clear and concise information that reduces the chance for
misunderstanding and medical errors. In addition, our passive pharmaceutical decision
support system warns physicians and nurses of allergies, contraindications, and drug-drug
interactions.
CMS Guidelines and JCAHO/HIPAA Compliance
Navigator Web was developed to ensure compliance with documentation guidelines of the
CMS, the JCAHO and HIPAA legislation. As noted, any areas or fields in the application
can be made mandatory which will prevent a chart from being finished and saved until
those fields are addressed. As guidelines and requirements change, the application is
easily updated remotely and modified to meet those needs.
Seamless Integration with Other Hospital Systems
The interfacing agent is responsible for sending and receiving all messages in HL7. Our
interfacing capabilities include but are not limited to: ADT, outbound orders, inbound lab
results, vital signs, outbound to the clinical data repository. Interfaces have already been
created for McKesson (formerly HBOC), Siemens (formerly SMS), and QuadraMed. This
seamless integration allows Navigator Web to share and receive information from your
hospital information system (HIS). Among other things, it allows for physician and nursing
order entry, which reduces delays in patient care.
Automated Data Analysis
Stored information is most useful when it can be quantified and analyzed. Presently in
healthcare, data is quantified manually by a full-time equivalent (FTE). This is not only time
intensive, but also leaves room for human error and "dirty" or incorrect data due to bias
and/or unavailable information. Navigator Web quantifies all data collected electronically
and in seconds. It comes with over twenty standard reports plus is integrated with Crystal
Reports allowing your facility to write reports for your specific needs. All data is owned by
the hospital and is saved in a SQL database. The database is open to authorized users.
